A walk around our natural zoo..

Summit and I took a neighborhood walk tonight and here is what we saw....

5 cedar waxwings (pictured below)- berry eaters, here for the ripening salmon berries and OH what a beautiful voice they have! Seasonal birds (okay- yes..call me a "bird nerd"-I confess...I am. I'm drawn to them with a silly curiosity and deep down desire to know the freedom of flying)... 2 Evening Grosbeaks... which are rapidly declining in our state- so they are GREAT to see!
2 bull elk- very young ones... with little antlers...not big like this guy but juvenile and wary...
2 black tail doe One Northern Flicker on her eggs in an abandoned post on our neighbors property...
Not too bad for a 3 mile loop! Call me Elly May or it's Spring again!!

Wow! Glad you've finally got warmer weather! You forgot the part where those little bunnies hop the plane and travel around from house to house. I'm afraid to move the furniture and vaccuum for fear they might attack!-ha!

How Cool. I miss a walk in the woods but its still amazing what I can see in my own back yard if I take the time to stop and look. I love your blog. Not only does it make me miss you but it makes me miss the mountains. Hmmm maybe I'll have to go to the mountains soon.

Great pictures. I love Cedar Waxwings. We used to have a lot of them around our old place. Just their name alone makes them cool. In March and May I spent some time in Eastern Washington and saw a lot of Magpies. I know they considered 'pests', but they sure are gorgeous.
