Mount Si, floating in the clouds...These two young elk boys were enjoying Ellen's meadow tonight. We caught them as the sun was setting, just after our walk.
The waxwings were out tonight singing their hearts out on our walk. I wish everyone reading this could hear their music when they get going. At one point it sounded like an atrium- all of them singing such beautiful songs at the same time.
During the walk, Vil shook the post that the Northern Flicker (Woodpecker) is nesting in- to see if we could see if she was still there -or if she had abandoned the nest (if the eggs aren't fertized, they will abandon them). She flew off and we immediately heard "peep, peep, peep"... so the babies have been born and she has mouths to feed!! We couldn't see them as they are way down in the nest hole. To respect her, we didn't go near it. She flew back when we walked away- awwwww... more animal babies! I am loving this.
