Fishing Rattlesnake Lake & More Fun Stuff

Who knew that Rattlesnake Lake had fish this big? It was opening day of fishing season today, and we headed on the LONG journey of less than 4 miles to our beautiful little lake. We fished for 2 hours and lost count of how many fish we caught- one after the other! Most were fairly small- not quite pan size... but there were a couple large boys in the mix. Neither of us had the heart to keep any.. just to say hello and let them go again. Fly fishing in that regard is hard to understand for most people, and they scratch their heads when you tell them that we don't keep any. For me, it's the joy of seeing these indicator species and to know that they are just as healthy when the go back in the lake. The day was so warm and beautiful too! Spring finally made an appearance and we had a high of 70 degrees today- it felt down right balmy.

My daffodils! So the story goes... I was at Lowes last year and they had bags of bulbs on clearance near the end of the season. Not having a "real" home for them, I decided to toss the bulbs out in our dirt meadow and see what happened. When we came back from fishing today.. this was the sight! Hopefully they pop up next year too!
Many of you know that we are getting new neighbors on lot 2! They are really kind people and we are excited to get to know them better. We can't see their new house from ours, but we hear the work crew over there almost daily, so tonight we snooped and came upon the makings of their "McMansion". Looks like it will be a great addition to the neighborhood!
