I grew these from seed. While this may not be much of a feat for most people, my harvest, no matter how small, is a little source of pride. I don't garden. In fact, I'm not much of a plant person. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing more enjoyable than healthy plants and vegetables, but I don't have much time to nurture plants. Instead, the labor of love is very much appreciated when I visit a farmers market or when neighbors share their overabundance of produce.
But last spring, some seeds arrived and I had no choice but to figure it out. I got some soil, planted them, watered them, and moved them all over the deck to find just the perfect sunny place where they would get some sunlight, but not too much. Beans, I learned the hard way, like it cool. Since seedlings like moist soil, but watering them with a hose squishes the delicate growth, I bought a spray bottle and gave them some daily drinks. And they grew. And in a few months...this!
I also managed to grow green onions, and sweet peas. So while this may not seem like a biggie to most people, to me it's huge. And somehow they just tasted better as they sat on our dinner plate.
