After years of waiting, we finally have a paved driveway! It's so nice to have a level surface for little things such as taking the trash cans out and for big things...like driving and walking! Recently we planted the grass to the left on the photo below. For those of you who have never planted grass...it was dump truck after dump truck of compost soil (it smelled like a cow farm for a while), then a yard roller uphill and down hill, raking, rolling, planting, rolling raking... then spreading the straw! We managed to knock all of this tough work off in a couple of days- (thank goodness for a hot tub). Anyway, it's finally coming up now and it's super exciting...yup...we've been watching the grass grow around here. Here are some pictures of a work in progress. There is much left to do, but what a summer for moving landscaping forward!!
And..of course,now that we know where the driveway is...we will reseed the sides of the lawn to the edge.
The pathway that will lead from the driveway to the front door will be constructed with the big stones you see laying up against the steps. It matches the porch stone. A project for next summer!
Yes, this big rock does have our house number on it, but I've edited them for safety/privacy.
