Summit and I had the day off today and it was as good as weather gets in Seattle. Without a cloud in the sky, we headed out early this morning with a destination of Melakwa Lake in the Snoqualmie Pass Backcountry. The flowers were in bloom and the smell was of warm pine in the 70 degree sunshine. We finally got to the lake after a long trudge up hill- and it was as pristine and gorgeous as I remembered. Summit did some serious swimming and splashing, while I ate my turkey sandwich and soaked in the sun. This was the perfect day. Truly a gift.
